Dear Emma King Families,
I’m writing to make you aware of a new service we’re introducing next fall. Starting in September, Emma King families have the option to pay school fees, including fees for field trips and club activities, etc. online. The Simcoe County District School Board has introduced a program called School Cash Online. Benefits of this online payment tool include:
• Less cash travelling with students to school
• Less cash to count and store in the school office
• Convenience for parents/guardians
You can register for the service over the summer so you’re ready to use it in the fall. Here’s how to register:
Step 1- Go to https://simcoecounty.schoolcashonline.com or follow the ‘School Cash Online’ link from our school website
Step 2 – follow the registration steps to set up an account and link your child to the account
Step 3 – record your log in information in a safe place
We will send out another note in the fall to remind you that this service is available. If you have any questions, as always, please contact us at the school.
Mr, J. Nicholson
The School Cash Parent Help Desk is available to solve any puzzles that you may have when using School Cash Online. The friendly staff is available 24/7 (365 days). They can assist you with registering, password recoveries, finding your children or any check out or payment issues.

Parent council has successfully secured funding through PRO (Parents Reaching Out) grant for school communities to hold a family literacy night! On Thursday, May 15th children’s author Mr. Andrew Larsen will be visiting Emma King. Mr. Larsen’s most recent work In the Tree House received the 2013 Book of the year (books for young people) and was short listed on the Blue Spruce award!
He will be presenting an interactive discussion with families about the importance of storytelling. He will not only lead a discussion/ presentation…he will also invite families to make their own story book together during the workshop! Each family that registers early (by May 6th) for the evening will receive a copy of Mr. Larsen’s In the Tree House to take home.
In addition to having Mr. Larsen’s presentation, the Barrie Public Library will also be available to showcase their children’s programming as well as having a reading opportunity with children. We are encouraging families to bring in previously loved books to exchange/ recycle and share…continuing to promote the love of reading!

Parents can set up daily, weekly or monthly email alerts for attendance information. Parents will receive registration and login information later this year.
Winter weather is apon us and we need to be prepared for inclement weather and the disruptions that come with it. We do not have any bus students at Emma King this year, but many of our students have older siblings that do travel to school via bus. Please use the attached link to acces the Simcoe County Transportation Consortium site as it will provide bus cancellation information on inclement weather days.
Please ensure that your personal information is current and updated as needed. For emergency purposes, please report any changes to the office which include: phone numbers (home and cell), places of employment, daycare information and medical information, who is allowed to pick up your child, etc.
Medication can only be administered with the proper forms completed by a medical doctor. Changes in medication or dosage always require an updated form. Short term medications, i.e. penicillin require the same form to be completed. Your doctor needs to fill the form out and a copy will be required at the school.
